$10.1 million jury verdict against Advocate Lutheran General for failing to timely diagnose and treat Sepsis resulting in the death of a 37-year old man.

In June 2019, a Cook County jury returned a $10,180,000 verdict in favor of Sukhman | Yagoda’s client, the Estate of David Ciolek, and against Advocate Lutheran General for its emergency room physician’s failure to diagnose and treat Sepsis. Advocate Lutheran General also failed to follow its mandatory Sepsis treatment protocols in violation of Illinois’s “Gabby’s Law” which requires hospitals to implement, and follow, Sepsis diagnostic guidelines and treatment protocols.
